Cabaret @ 01/10 Bindlestiff Studio
#1
This one was kind of from left field. It was a half-price offering from the SF Weekly mailing list. Basically $10 a ticket.

I love the music from "Cabaret" but I never saw it live. I'm not even sure where I heard the songs. I thought seeing the show would be a hoot.

Anyway, the Bindlestiff Studio is this invisible doorway on 6th between Mission and Howard. We picked up our will-call tickets and were promptly informed the show was BYOB. If you wanted drinks, you needed to head to the corner liquor store for libations. We wandered off and opted for coffee.

When we returned we descended to the performance space. Basically a 20' x 20' square with the back 3' set up as a hallway and the front 17'  set up as an apartment. Not looking good. Then the performance began.

From the first second the cast captured the stage and convinced you it was the "Kit Kat Club". Those freaky Bob Fosse moves from the movie? They did them. The emotion and passion from those scenes? There in spades.

We were blown away.

Live theater rules.
