Bruno, Chief of Police by Martin Walker
#1
I'm actually going to talk about the whole series which I just finished reading. The books include Black Diamond, The Dark Vineyard, The Crowded Grave and The Devil's Cave.

Bruno is the police chief of the country french town of St. Deny's. The books are basically a love letter to small french towns that are properly run by people like Bruno. So far in the series, the mystery in the center of each book revolves around some aspect of French cuisine. And Bruno spends a lot of time cooking his own meals and drinking the various wines of the region. One book is about Truffles. Another is about Foi Gras. Of course there is a wine book.

That aside, the mysteries are quite good. They are very twisty. But it's always the outsider at the center of the mystery wanting to change the country ways of St. Denys.

I like this series and can't wait for the next one.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit
