Wolf of Wall Street
#1
It was my weekend with despicable people from Wall Street weekend and this was movie number 1. Or my what was all the Oscar fuss about with these movies.

Do you like nudity and the depiction of drug use, mostly cocaine and ludes? Then this is the movie for you. Sometimes there is even drug use and nudity. And swearing. Lots of swearing.

It's the story of Jordan Belfort's rise to riches during the 1980's and 1990's, although there isn't much rise. Basically, he starts out, loses his job and then finds a crooked way to make a ton of movie. Most of the film is what he does with the money. And what he does with the money is by hookers and blow.

There wasn't a lot this picture despite it's almost 3 hour run time, more of a series of wild vignettes from his life. And there isn't one redeeming thing about any of the players in this pictures. You certainly wouldn't want to spend three hours with them.

There is a sword fight but only if you use the term for male interaction while naked. Did I mention there was nudity?

I thought this was going to be more of a Wall Street movie like The Big Short. Then while watching it, I remembered it was recommended by one of dm's more illicit friends. This is a drug movie with nekkid Margot Robbie. On that level, it was amusing. I hoped for more hallucinations but it was more hookers & blow + ludes. I was almost amused for 3 hours, with a few chuckles even, but not so much that I'd watch it again. RM might recommend it to a few illicit friends, ones that can relate to Herculean abuse - which might even include a few DOOM bros, but not Greg (sorry) and a few others here. You have to relate to blow & lude humor. Scorcese has always had a nose for blow portrayals. Hollywood gave it the nod because they get blow & lude humor, probably all too well.

Indeed, I would not recommend this film to you, Greg.  It's not your thing.

For the rest of you, I can distill it all down to 3 words: Nekkid Margot Robbie.   Tongue
