I'm not a quitter but this book got quickly returned to the library after five chapters.
I like Elroy. I liked White Jazz and LA Confidential and the third book in this trilogy. So, I was kind of excited to start this next series about Hughes and Hoover and America in the sixties. But oh my god, I had to stop. He writes in a very affected way. All the paragraph are three sentences long without any adverbs or adjectives. It was very difficult to get into the story because of the distracting method of story telling. I flipped forward a couple hundred pages to see if he knocked off with the style, but it continues throughout the book.
I quit. I stopped. I read no more.
