Made a deal with my "someday soon to be ex" to pick up some of my stuff from the house. Didn't get my vinyl yet, but got my CDs and cassettes that go back to my childhood. I've been listening to MP3s and new stuff for the last two years and didn't really think about all this music, but when I got it home and organized the stuff on a shelf, I felt warm and fuzzy, like when you take a guitar that you haven't played for a long time out of its case and really recognize it with a new and old perspective at the same time...
I found a mix tape that I made for my daughter right before her 3rd birthday (circa 1990). We used to listen to it when we would drive around. Really fun stuff: They Might Be Giants, Pixies, Beatles, Spot 1019. I'm going to send it to her and see if she remembers it at all. The flip side has me trying to record some demos on some double-track system I rigged up. It's funny to hear it now.
