Cassie Palmer series by Karen Chance
#1
Three book series: Touch the Dark, Claimed by Shadow and Embrace the Night. With titles like that I was expecting lots and lots of sex, a la Laurell Hamilton, but no such luck. Just lots of vampires and mages, clairvoyants, demons, half-demons, and of course, fey politics.

Basically, Cassie Palmer, a clairvoyant, was stolen by a vampire mobster at age 4 after killing her parents, and raised in his court. He used her talents, but she discovers it wasn't just selfish: he was trying to prevent her from becoming the next Pythia (a clairvoyant that can travel through time) and/or ensure that the next Pythia was his loyal servant. And of course, mayhem ensues because everybody wants to control Cassie - the vamps, the mages, the light fey, the dark fey and everybody's got their own problems that she wants nothing to do with....

These are not as much clever fun as the Kim Harrison/Rachel Morgan books but defnitely of that same ilk. And despite the lack of Clint Eastwood movie title pins, there was in fact less talk and sould searching and much more action in the Karen Chance books. I have the feeling she'd rather be writing screenplays than novels.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
