Remember when a film written by Stephen King was the kiss of death? Then Shawshank Redemption and the Green mile kind of changed all . 1408 reaffirms my belied that Stephen King movies are bad.
It wasn't hideously bad and it did start off kind of creepy but then it got repitious and I grew bored.
John Cusack plays Mike Enslin a writer and ghost hunter. He wrote one good novel then his child died and now he writes haunted travelogues. Which brings him to room 1408. A room that is evil. Samuel Jackson tries to scare him off, but nobody scares off Mike Enslin.
The first few creepy happenings gave me a good feeling but then they started repeating them. And then they tried to make it seem like he was merely hallucinating. Of course there were flash backs to his past. They tried to do the big switcheroo near the end but you could see it coming a mile away.
And why was just the room haunted? Not the whole Hotel. Did Stephen not feel up to the challenge of haunting a whole hotel? Or maybe he's done that before? And how was the room haunted? To that we get nothing.
Needless to say skip it. I'll probably wait for the Mist on DVD as well ("We want the Boy!")
