I'm always liked watching Forest Whitaker. He can go from charming to psycho in a heartbeat with that crazy lazy eye of his, which made him perfect for the role of Idi Amin. Shooting on location gave it a great air of authenticity, even though the story was quite fictional. There's a little doc on the DVD that shows the real Amin and puts it all in context.
DM has this weird memory of seeing an old movie about Amin at the Quad with ED. Can't remember the title at all. DM, ED & LB saw a lot of films at the quad. That Amin film was filled with no name actors, filmed on a very low budget (re: quad) and starred this really funny looking guy in the lead. It worked because that guy was so strange looking - a huge man with a very dark skin, a massive torso and orangutan arms. Dm has a clear memory of several scenes from the film - Amin dancing with the natives, Amin being a cannibal, it was a weird film. Dm also remembers leaving the theater with ED, with us both very creeped out because that actor was so strange looking. We probably went drinking after, assuming we weren't drinking during.
