Did not recognize Jackie Chan or Ralph Macchio.
Enough with the franchises already!

The interesting thing about this project is that the filmmakers are not the Cobra Kai show runners. In an interview with. me, they once said that Jackie exists in the Cobra Kai universe (aka the Miyagi-verse) but Mr. Han does not. In our most recent interview, they were very diplomatic about this film. There were some smirks and raised eyebrows when I broached the question, but I prefaced that with "If you don't want to answer this, we can skip it" or something along those lines and one of the show runners stepped forward to take it on.
I'm hoping I get a shot at interviewing the KK:L makers. Note that Will Smith banked both the KK redux with his kid Jaden, and Cobra Kai.

I've been tasked to do a piece on KK:L. My deadline is the morning of the screener.
How does that work? Magic, man, pure magic. Ironically I just read my 2010 cover story on The Karate Kid. It's got a few winceable moments for me, like mispelling LaRusso as Russo twice. What's more, I hadn't seen the film when I wrote it, just like now. I did to interview Jackie Chan, although it was over email, so the replies could've been anyone (honestly it doesn't sound like Jackie). How did I get to Jackie? Through WildAid. 2010 was the year of the tiger, the same year that I launched the WildAid Tiger Claw Championship for TCEC. It was only the 2nd TCEKFMC. The previous TCECs were different. Those were like 2006-2008, a co-op with Disney. Man, what a long strange trip...

Oh 'eck.
Now I'm tasked to do two pieces on KK:L. I will have to be a writing machine when I return to the default world next week. A machine! Maybe I can get AI to do it...

Imagine for a sec what this movie is.
That’s exactly what this is. Exactly. So predictable that I knew the final scene within the first 10 mins. It’s too bad. There are some good performances here. But the way the story moves, it’s just so cliche Hollywood. Not D00M recommended.

I knocked out some notes for my review (due tomorrow) and the more I pick it apart, the worse it gets. I liked the chemistry between Ben & Sadie but that wasn’t even enough to redeem the rest.
The ultimate tournament final round fight is unsatisfactory. Makes it even worse. It’s almost completely disconnected to Cobra Kai. Sweep the leg coup de grace was the best Easter egg but it’s totally underplayed.
