The Architect
#1
Odd movie. Anthony LaPaglia plays an architect who designed a public housing development. One of the residents of the project tries to get him to sign a petition to tear it down. Isabella Rosselni plays the architect's wife, who is a neat freak on a scale that puts both Felix Unger and my father to shame, who is in the middle of having a nervous breakdown and planning to leave Anthony LaPaglia. Both of their kids (the girl is played by Hayden Panatierre - the indestrutable cheerleader on "Heroes") are going through a bad case of high school puberty.

The story is pretty much incidental and never actually goes anywhere -- it's all about the individual self-involved-ness of each of the characters. They're so busy worrying about themselves and what they think of themselves and how others perceive them that they never actually connect with anything outside themselves. When they talk to each other, they don't actually have conversations, they just make speeches to each other.

The ending was extraordinarily abrupt -- they just stop as though - okay, we've shown you enough now, you should have the point. Finish it in your own mind.

Snore.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
