Deadwood
#1
So I just finished watching Season 3 of Deadwood.

This epic tale of a 1876 miner's camp becoming an incorporated territory of the United States is one of the most gripping dramas I've had the privelege to witness.

Ever since 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' I've been a sucker for westerns. 'Little Big Man' mad me a sucker for 'alternative' westerns. 'Deadwood' raised the bar by combining Shakespeare, cussing and crude behavior to forge a vision of the wild west that would make John Wayne cringe.

The writing and the acting unify as one. Throw in the ultra-realistic sets, costumes and lighting and you're not sure you are watching fiction anymore. I'm not sure I can ever watch a classic western again. It's like watching old war movies where no one ever swears.

I will definitely buy this on Blu-Ray someday.

Insert rant about such wonderful art not being available to the underprivileged here:<screw>
