The Great Tree of Avalon: Child of the Dark Prophecy

Didn't realize this was intended to be "young adult" fantasy when I picked it up. As I got a little more than half way through, I wondered how many books were in the series, because there was no way they could possibly wrap it up in one book. Then, whaddaya know, they wrapped up the entire story by the end. In other words, lots of detail and development in the beginning, then WAY too fast and cheap at the end.

As fantasy worlds go, it was engaging and I wanted to find out how the story ended, but the villains really lacked depth, each of the various heroes' struggles weren't that huge of a struggle. The message was a little too sledge-hammer-y for my taste: believe in yourself and respect the flora and fauna around you...

Harry Potter, this ain't.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
