RIP Dame Diana Rigg
#1
One of my fondest memories of her, outside of the Avengers, is when she appeared in an episode of Ricky Gervais's show Episodes where Harry Potter was explaining to her what a condom was for.

I want this thread to slow it's roll.

Those two roles, yes

...and hosting Mystery! On PBS.

I think we’ve reached perigee and the passings of our icons are just going to come faster and furiouser. I have to get mentally prepared for that.

I was delighted to see her in Game of Thrones even though it took me a while to recognize her. It wasn't so much that she had aged. It was that she vanished into a character that played against her typecasting, at least to my way of thinking. I remember thinking 'damn...she's still got it.'

Friends too. And that ship has sailed. So many people, so many places...I'll think of them with the sobering realization that they are gone and all that's left is some fading memories.

How many of you got into fencing because of this?

Sadness.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

If only fencing duds were cat suits like that - and not knickers - I'd still be fencing.

I got into fencing because of my relatives and a childhood trauma involving Captain Hook. I met THE HONEY when he ventured up to Foothill college looking to expand his fencing horizons. He lured me down to Salle DeCesare where I met all of you (except the cfs - they came in through Kung Fu - completely different story). Emma Peel had little to do with it.

Truth is that her martial arts and fight scenes always bugged me. Her cat suits left little to the imagination and betrayed her awkwardness as a fighter. But all is forgiven because...well, Emma Peel had Man appeal (M.a-ppeal).
