Crystal Luna is a ditsy young woman who worships internet guru Nanek. She wears outrageous costumes and a foil-wrapped head piece, handles things with gloves and a stick-grabber, and has a big altar to Nanek in her cluttered living room. She buys everything that Nanek sells, including a tea that later is revealed to be hallucinogenic. As such, it's difficult to know what is really happening to her and what is imagined. For sure, she is agoraphobic, never leaving her apartment, and she panics every time the doorbell rings or there's knock at the door. There are flashbacks of her as a grade-school teacher showing a strong rapport with the children, with hints of some tragedy that may have led to her current condition. She's way behind on her rent and about to be evicted, and though she makes a little money teaching Nanek's whacky meditation techniques in her living room, it's hardly enough.
One day she receives two complimentary tickets from Guru Nanek. He'll be in town to do a seminar, and wants to reward those who have been his best salespeople. Though terrified of venturing outdoors, she is determined to go, assisted by a very supportive friend.
One more thing. Crystal Luna has developed her own meditative technique that involves a vibrator. Whether this is a physical object or a mental concept is never made clear. But when she teaches the vibrator technique to her small circle of students in her living room, they all clearly go through the explosive throes of orgasm.
The Kanopy description for this movie says, in part, "[Crystal] discovers that searching for enlightenment can be dangerous in this award winning film. Only she alone can save her vibrator from the guru's grasp."
So, yeah. This is a clumsy mess of a film in just about every way; nevertheless, it has a definite charm -- owing entirely to Jade Puga. She plays Crystal Luna. She's also producer, editor, production and costume designer and other things. She's got a wealth of talent for sure, and uninhibited as an actress, doing a lot of outrageous things. May she find a better vehicle in the future.
BTW, if you do a search on the title, google is unrelenting in guiding you to Agoraphobia. To even find an imdb listing for it, I had to do a search on Jade Puga.
Not really recommended, unless you're in an odd duck mood, or needing to refine your vibrator technique.
