When Richie Cunningham does a doc on the greatest opera star in the modern world, it's worth a look. Culled from a crapton of archival footage and interviews with so many of the significant people around him (including the #metoo-busted Domingo), what holds this together is weaving themes and lyrics from his performances and how they mirrored his life. His delivery was so earnest and seemingly effortless, and the themes of opera cover so many emotions, it was a good narrative thread. He looked a lot like Jack Black when he was young. Bono is particularly eloquent about the nature of emoting while singing, and his relationship with the Maestro is hysterical and inspiring.
No sword fights but there are swords. It's opera. Only recommended for DOOM pop opera fans, and maybe documentary makers just to see it from the technical side. It's not a perfect doc but serviceable.
