This is the suicide I mentioned over the weekend.  He was 2nd gen Rock Med.  I knew his mom very well as she was one of the people who helped build the small show model with me - those Warfield daze when I used to work at AFS.  So many shows, so blurry.  I didn't know Justin that well.  He was a cool doc, always came in with an entourage of interns, nursing & med students, often wore flip flops.  His mom moved to CT and I can't remember when I last saw either of them.  But it was such a shocker.  He shot himself.  He got married recently, some sort of secret elopement, and then she dumped him.  So tragic.  I'm still in denial.

Just came from his memorial at the Warfield. Saw many old friends, several who I haven’t seen in years. Tough memorial. So many memories came flooding back about Justin. He was raised at the Warfield and I had sorta blocked a lot of that out. I didn’t know him well as an adult, after he came back from Med school, but now I remember him as a little kid, coloring cartoons as we slopped drunks in our dungeoness speakeasy. Such a tragic loss. So heartbreaking.

The universe has no obligation to provide us with answers.
