I crossed paths with Peter Mayhew when after I interviewed Ray Park at SVCC.  They were both in signing booths,  right next to each other.  Ray was flanked by Peter and Nichelle (Uhura).  Both Peter and Nichelle were wheelchair bound.  Peter's huge frame had given out by then - earth's gravity wasn't allowing for a human body of his size. He seemed bright and animated however.  I didn't really engage him because I was there for Ray.  Ray called out to us (me and Tara) when we approached the back of the line.  He skipped us to the front, gave Tara an autographed pic and let us take a selfie with him (like a $20+ value each).  And Ray had a decent line of fans.  Poor Peter didn't have very many in his line. That's always a little sad to see, especially when it's a star of some note.

My biggest beef with Star Wars is not Jar Jar.  It's not the Midiclorians either, or even Ani. It's that Chewie didn't get a medal at the end of Ep 4.  In fact, if you understand Wookinese, that film ends with him bellowing 'What?! I don't get a feckin medal?!? What am I? A damn droid?!? It's cuz I don't wear pants, isn't it?'
