An overweight girl decides to compete in a beauty pageant her mother runs to get some attention from said mother.

Yeah, no. It was getting such rave reviews I thought I should check it out. But I now see I am not the demographic. I do not need two hours of Dolly Parton songs. Granted I did know every one of the songs.

I like a good teenage comedy as much as the next person, but this was not it. It wasn't very funny. The lead seemed to have a chip on her shoulder. The person I liked most was the other overweight girl who also enters the beauty pageant. She seemed to have the right attitude of just enjoying life no matter what anyone says. The lead just seemed to have a chip on her shoulder and didn't really know what she wanted.

It was also forced in two big sequences, the leads are supposed to be having these marvelous experiences and the audience is supposed to revel in how great those experiences are. One was a Dolly Parton drag show at a country bar and the other was the beauty pageant itself. In both case the actors act like what they are seeing is the best performance ever. But from the audience perspective they came off as pretty ordinary and didn't warrant the over the top reactions.

Not a DOOM film at all.

Jennifer Anniston is the one who doesn't age.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
