Gary Numan 10/05 Bimbo's 365 Club
#1
I love Bimbo's. The retro decor, the bathroom attendants, the bartender explaining to me why he doesn't like cilantro while mixing the best G&T I've had all evening.

The last time I saw Gary Numan was in 2013 at The Oakland Metro Opera House, a punk/metal venue in downtown Oakland. Bimbo's is quite a step up.

He has seriously cranked up the aggressive sound he adopted with 1999's "Exile". Now "Cars" and "Are Friends Electric?" sound like doom metal dirges. The bass literally vibrates your bones and would make a great soundtrack to an end-of-the-world party.

The new stuff from "Savage" is great too. I actually helped crowd-fund the record on the Pledge music site and was very pleased with the result.

We had samosas from Kennedy's (across the street) and alcohol from the bar.

All in all a great night out.

Because it all comes back to me, George Piller's daughter, Hajna, danced at Bimbo's back in the day. She got her job there through Alex Orban's sister, who was also a daughter at the club.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Because it all comes back to me, the last time I can remember being at Bimbo's was for Damien Marley and I wound up puking.  I had a bad burrito just prior to the show.  Really bad.  I started getting the spins during the opening act and spent most of it in the lobby, looking towards the bathroom which had a big line.  I thought my friends had dosed me.  But then, I stabilized and went to join them at the table.  As soon as I sat down, I puked - discreetly under the table.  My friends were shocked because I hadn't yet had anything to drink (they had and were confused by my absence during the opener).  They asked if I wanted to go home, but once I puked up that burrito, I felt great.  I was skankin for Junior Gong when he hit the stage and had a great night after such a rough start.  That was well over a decade ago - maybe even two decades by now.  I've only been to Bimbos a few times.  It's nice though.

In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
