English Noir, filmed in Czech republic, I’m guessing, stylized, predictable, enjoyable, mainly to see Margot Robbie chew the scenery and Simon Pegg do some decent acting. It was over long, but worth almostevery penny of the $4 I spent to stream it.

So DOOM worthy then? Robbie + Pegg is a sure sell for me. I'm just wondering if it's worth the rent or should I wait until it comes up free on one of my stream services.

Free would be worth the wait.

Good call on that freebee wait, Dr. Watched this on Hoopla.
It’s drenched in neon style and has several elements that I’m an unabashed sucker for - Margot of course. She vamps it up and that’s the Margot I most enjoy. Simon who I think all of DOOM luvs, and here he plays it straight for a change, showing he can act after all. Mike, who can be such a bore with his crassness, but is good when he stays in character. Jeremy, well, he’s not in this but his son Max is. That doesn’t really count. Mix that. A HP factor 1 for Neville. Plus it’s a revenge flick and karma plays appeal to my Buddhist underpinnings. Most of all, what makes me take a big bite out of both sides of the mushroom, it’s got gratuitous Lewis Carroll.
All that being said, the film fails if you stand back and think about it at all. It yearns to be artsy in a cultish way, but ultimately misses its mark because it’s surreality is too absurd, or better said, to tepid. Greg will find it terrible because he looks at plot arcs and such with that aloof film school pretentiousness. But still, the mcguffins I did not predict like the good Dr., so I found them amusing. In my defense, I was nodding off when Margot wasn’t on screen so I missed some chunks.
Yes I’d follow Margot down any rabbit hole. That Oz accent. Those perfect teeth. I’d snicker snak a jabberwock just to share a plate of nachos with her.
No sword fights. Mildly DOOM recommended, mostly because it might elicit some amusing debate here. Or at the very least, more chiding mockery of DM & the Yeti’s simple cinematic pleasures.
