Human Kindness

So I stopped at my local Chevron the other day to put air in my tire. Very few places offer free air and water anymore so I try and support my local evil oil company distribution center. After I filled my tire I parked and went in to get a cup of coffee.

I saw a short, Latino guy ahead of me in a hoodie and sweats getting his coffee so I hung back and caught Pokemon until he was done. I grabbed my large coffee and headed to the cashier. When I tried to pay the cashier said "He got your coffee for you". I was stunned, I insisted on shaking his hand.

The whole experience shook me a little. It only cost him $2 but it made my entire day.

I will now try and pay that forward.

I rarely get fast food any more, but a few times, when the system has been that you order at one window and pay at another, when I get to the pay window, I’ve paid my own bill and picked up the tab for the car behind me. I never know how that goes over, but I suspect it’s probably a pleasant surprise.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
