This was a strange movie. Christina had read the book and wanted to see it. I find Claire Danes easy on the eye, so I was willing to watch. But it's kind of odd. She plays a clerk at Saks, and Steve Martin is an inexplicably rich logician who pursues her. The emotional tone of most of the film is cold/flat, much like Mr. Martin's character, who I found off-putting (perhaps that's his intent). He attempts to inject meaning with a couple of voice overs that don't reallly fit.

But it's a great looking film. The designer and cinematographer were obviously top notch. It was a pleasure to watch from a purely visual standpoint. And the composer, who I had never heard of, did some really nice Philip Glass kind of music.
