Assassin's Creed

This film has a lot going for it for me. Firstly a friend is in it - Michelle Lin. She gets some good FaceTime and gets to kick ass, but no lines. Secondly, some of it takes place in Grenada and Sevilla, at locations I visited. Thirdly it has three of my fav actors, Cotillard, Lyons & Rampling, plus an hp1 for Mad Eye Moody. Fourthly, swordfights. Fifthly hallucinations.

But it misses in a major way. It's one of those films that makes me mad - so much potential and so much effort, yet it fails.

Is it like Prometheus, a beautifully filmed but bottomlessly stupid, or do you think this was maybe a good film that got studio-chopped into a bad one?
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

One more thing. The protagonist was named Lynch.

Prometheus is a good analogy. But where Prometheus struggles to live up to its predecessors, Ass Creed was too greedy in its scheme to launch a franchise.

Plus it's a damn videogame, so it's right up there with Tomb Raider or Warcraft.
