So you guys know I'm a 'classic' rock fan. The only Metallica album I own is their 'sell out' "Black Album". However, I joined their fan club because it was free and I thought it would give me free downloads or something.
Anyway, I got an email that let me enter a lottery for Fox concert tickets at $25.00. Sure, why not?
I won.
I am now a hardcore Metallica fan. This is my 3rd time seeing themĀ (after ATT park and Bridge School Benefit) and really like the vibe at the shows. Metal fans remind me of Dead fans. Everyone is really kind to each other. Lots of folks bring their kids and the atmosphere is more like a circus than a music show. Metal artists (that I've seen) are all about "we love you, and you need to love each other" during song breaks. Then it's "Kill 'em All" and mosh pits. Music is weird.
It was interesting that there were no 'tickets'. I had to present my credit card and ID to get in. This discouraged 'bots'.
I still think Lars is a putz, but James seems like a good guy, and I would love to share a beer with Kirk.
