Fantastic Four (2015)
#1
I'm stuck in a hotel and I'm sick of watching convention coverage. That's my excuse for leaving this on my TV.

I should have watched the DNC.

What a joyless movie. They drank full up from the Dark Knight well. Every move is full of portent and meaning and emotion and dullness. And the movie raised so many questions. Why is this super genius just in public school rather than a magnet school? Why do his teachers crush his spirit rather than reward him? Why is a teenager put in charge of a billion dollar facility? Why do all these teenagers look like they are in their thirties? Are there any cliches still left in the cliche store?

OY vey. And it was shot without the modern benefit of lighting. I should think about doing all the interviews in the dark since that is how important films are made these days.

I really did like the first Fantastic Four. It was dumb, but it was light hearted. Captain America was so good as the Human Torch. It had jokes. It had humanity. It had an awful costume for Ben Grimm. But it kind of worked. It's like the Joker says, 'Why so serious'

Thankfully, it all ended rather precipitously. It took me a few seconds to realize we had switched from the lazy second act to the end game. And the reasons given for Dr. Doom wanting to destroy the world, because the world had to be destroyed or the stakes weren't high enough, were from a snake bitings it's own tale school of reasoning.

So, yeah, it was good. But not DNC good.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Joyless and hackneyed.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
