My Father, the pornographer by Chris Offut
#1
Chris Offut writes about dealing with his father, Andrew J. Offut. The book is more a memoir of how Chris deals with his father, growing up, and the aftermath of Andrew Offut's death. The pornography wasn't a big secret in the family so the amount of pornography wasn't really a revelation. I think they just through that in the title to garner interest.

It's a very sad story, full of family dysfunction. It was kind of hard to get through. It's a family tragedy with one toxic family member in the center, something which I could relate to.

I vaguely remember Andrew as a science fiction writer. He did appear in the Dangerous Vision anthology. From porn, you might recognize him as having written the Spaceways series for Playboy. Oddly, Harlan Ellison appears in the book as a sympathetic figure.

In the end, it's a dark book full of interpersonal violence.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

I thought Andrew J. Offut was one of those hacks who wrote Conan books after Howard died.

KB: You're right.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
