Batkid Begins
#1
Ah, crying. Nothing says manly like watching this stupid film with tears streaming down my face. Stupid feelings.

Anyway, you people were probably all there when San Francisco was turned into Gotham City for one day and Leukemia patient Miles ran around as Batman as part of his Make-a-wish celebration. I was pretty excited and agog when it happened and this film brings all those crappy feeling back to life in my coal black heart.

The film does a really good job of covering the day. It shows all the events. It shows the preparation. It shows Miles story. (Just keep saying to yourself "Lumbar Puncture") It's a really well made film that tugs at the heart strings as you watch the community of San Francisco rally to the cause of whimsy for one child.

I watched the film twice when I realized that tQ wanted to see it, too and I was already most of the way through.

My cynicism tried to rise up and complain about costs and what good would it do for the five year old Miles for all this to happen, but there seemed to be such joy in the city on the day and such a stupid outpouring of generosity, I had to put my cynicism away for a while.

No sword fights. Didn't need them.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

The version of Bowies Heroes used in the film is pretty good, too
