I'm scheduled to interview Daniel Wu for a second time so I've been watching some of his non-martial films. Actually he has more of those than martial films.
Inseparable stars Kevin Spacey and marks the first time a major Hollywood star was featured in a 100% PRC funded film. It's part drama (Daniel is facing the loss of his parents and unborn baby), part superhero film (both Wu and Spacey suit up in costumes to fight crime), part thriller (they go after corporate corruption), with a major Beautiful Mind/Fight Club bent, which means there are some decent hallucinations. No sword fights, but there's a crowbar vs. car. Not bad. Not mind-blowing in any way, but I was engaged through it. It showed modern China well.
