SF Giants NLDS 2014 Game 4
#1
I was never a die-hard fan of baseball.

My dad took we to a couple A's and Giants games in the 70's but it never 'clicked'.

The 2010 Giants win made me curious. Here were a bunch of misfits with beards, long hair and strange names who were the best in baseball.

Since then I have been addicted to this team that gets slammed every season for being a bunch of freaks and weirdos, in a city of freaks and weirdos and the NLDS Game 4 win was a triumph.

My brother-in-law had an extra ticket to the game and called me at the last minute to see if I wanted to go. Of course I said yes and met him in Willie Mays plaza to collect. Our seats were in s127/r36/s8 off of the third-base line. I twirrled my rally rag and shouted 'Yes,Yes,Yes'! I sang along with Steve Perry to 'Lights'. I applauded Tony Benett singing the horrible 'God Bless America' and drank a metal-bottled Heineken.

It was 'Fleet-Week' and soldiers and sailors were everywhere. I heard a sailor behind me say "I hate baseball, but this is amazing". The game was crazy (runs won on wild pitches and errors) but so San Francisco.

Then we won.

I walked back to BART along the Embarcadero high-fiving fans, locals and sailors with horns honking, whistles blowing and a full moon shining as brightly as the sun.

Good times.

Zombie Thread!!!!

I needed a Giants thread so this will do.

Sportsball! The SF Giants First Baseman has basically lost his mind. Or is the funnest man ever. Last year, he self appointed himself Captain by putting an electrical tape 'C' on his uniform. Then he got himself a Captain's hat and made all the rookies pose with him dressed in sailor suits on the stairs to the plane. It's been hysterical.

Today, as a promo, they are handing out Captain's hats. Yesterday, for opening day, he threw out the first pitch. And he entered the stadium on a boat on a trailer.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Have you tried the live MLB on Apple TV+? It's like baseball...on your TV!

I know that's a tremendous feat given licensing issues, and it just works, but I'm not that big on sportsball. Pretty cool for those that are though...
