Bride and Prejudice

I'm not a big fan of singing and dancing musicals, and the descriptions I'd read about "Bollywood" movies made me really reticent to sit through this -- but as soon as I saw that Naveen Andrews (Sayid from Lost) was in it, I was in. It was REALLY weird to watch "the Torturer" singing and dancing.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

...I think I reviewed that on the old forum, may it rest in peace. The only thing it had going for it was Naveen and Ash (the female lead and my wife in my next life, Ashiwara Rai) and the snake dance. But it was watered-down Bollywood, like Walker Texas Ranger was for kung fu flicks.

Does that mean Stacy will kill you in the next life when you are hanging out with Ash and didn't look her up?

How can it be for beginners when the 2nd lead is an Iraqi torturer? And do we have to keep our shirts open for the entire film? It really cheapens the male sex. It objectifies us.

As a film, it was a little less than satisfying. The musical numbers did kick ass, especially the one in the streets because of it's distance from reality. And boy can that white beat a drum.

What should be next on the Bollywood/Ash adventure? Did she ever release the film she shot in Oakland?

...I'm saving that for my next lifetime. The last thing I heard about her was that she declined a role in THE MYTH with Jackie Chan and that was prior to the Oakland thing. I keep thinking I got to dial into Bollywood more, but it's overwhelming - so many films and like any genre, most of them suck.

I might as well put this one here rather than have Drunk Monk over click on a new thread.

They totaly ripped off Bride and Prejudice with this film. They had the same marriage complications. there was Mr Darcy that no one liked because he was inept and then he got in the way of Jane's marriage because he though mom was a gold digger. It was so much the same. Can't anyone come up with new ideas these days?

All I know is Kiera Knightly needs to get some boobs. She has the beautiful face that we saw in closeup about every other shot, but it would be nice if she could fill out the dress a little more rather than it looking like a sheet draped over a board. It was wierd to see Donald Sutherland in this English period piece but he only slipped out of his accent a few times.

If you've seen Bride, you've seen Pride. The dancing was better in Bride. The goofy songs were also far superior.
