London 2012
#1
My kid just came back from London on Sunday. She had a great time.

Still very bummed about Jordyn Weiber.

Judo already had a huge gaffe.

Did you know that this year's Pentathlon is using laser guns? Cool, huh? Maybe they'll get light sabers by Rio. Sorry, I mean light epees.

Fuck all the swimming and beach volleyball. Let's see some other stuff. NBC seems to be only focused on the scantily clad sports.

Telemundo's coverage is just soccer so far, and I haven't been able to find Chinese coverage this year.

Why is Beijing 2008 still in the gatherings forum? viewtopic.php?f=12&t=72

Okay. I'm watching too much Olympics. I saw the team archery. I caught some of the handball and field hockey. I've seen a bunch of the rowing. I saw the basketball. And I saw some of the fencing. I saw a great boxing match that had an american. He came from behind in the last round by knocking his opponent to the ground. I've seen Tennis. I'm on sports overload.

In case you don't know or don't have it, a lot of the shows are on the NBC Sports channel which used to be VS. There is also stuff on MSNBC, CNBC, and Bravo. Mostly tennis on Bravo and Boxing on CNBC.

I've also streamed quite a lot of Fencing on my computer.

I love the Olympics but my retinas might need replacing.

I've only been watching on the telly (antenna, no cable). Men's art gymno was all about pommel horse. Great to see a Brit team win. Missy Franklin is looking like America's new Olympian sweetheart. An anglophile too - how diplomatic. I caught a boxing match on Telemundo last night: Ehsan Rouzbehani IRI def. Colombian Monra Valera. It was very entertaining. Good fight - Olympic is 3x3 which means a lot of action. Also caught some Men's C2, which looked pretty fun. There's too damn many websites and none of them are streaming well for me. Besides, I must titrate my dosage, lest I grow moss while sitting on the couch.

Women's gymno tonight!

Do you want to know how it's going?

Watched the Men's foil today. Imboden had a great round of 32. Both Massialas and Imboden were soundly beaten in the round of 16. A lot of walking forward into attacks.

I did not see the skeet shooting except for a few minutes.

I think Lochte spoke too much about how this was his time. And it's looking like his time to fail. As for Phelps? Maybe he should have gotten out of the pool. Maybe tonights' butterfly will turn things around for him. I love Missy Franklin. And I like the Lithuanian girl from last night.

There is too much. Maybe it's time to watch the men crush in basketball?

What site are you viewing the fencing with? I just missed Greg Massialas on the news last night. They did an interview with him and Jordan Wieber's mom on local NBC news, but I surfed away at just the wrong moment. It must have been really short.

I'm done with Phelps and his mom. I'm not that into Lochte either. I feel like I've already seen enough Men's swimming and Women's beach volleyball. Missy, however, has won my heart too.

I watched a little soccer on Telemundo, but not much. That game takes too long for my Olympic ADD.

All my streaming is done on nbcolympics.com. The catch is you have to be some type of cable subscriber to get it. Which I am thinking you are not.

I also really like the official London Olympics site. It's got great stats and figures and updates. www.london2012.com

Soren Thompsen who I used to fence against here in the Southland fences tomorrow in Epee. He needs to last a couple of rounds because his first bout is at 2am our time.

I watched some of the synchronized boxing earlier today. It sure seemed like the Lithuanians got robbed. This was in the middleweight division. The Lithuanian pair (Uke and Ilya) had this amazing 5-punch combo that was right on, but they only got two points for it. Their German foes, meanwhile, seemed way off taking it on the chin, and especially as they spun to the floor -- and they got two points as well. Admittedly the Lithuanians were weak in their footwork, especially when ducking aside. And their attempt at an Ali shuffle was as big a faux pas as it was out of sync. But still, Uke and Ilya were like one in their combos, only the points never reflected it. Also they shouldn't have had points deducted for those low blows, because they were in perfect sync while the Germans hopped around and wailed like two different species of kangaroo.

Tonight I might tune in for some rhythmic archery.

I'm sorry I missed the synchronized boxing. I want the archery event where you have to shoot while standing next to your opponents target while he shoots.

From now on, I'm getting all my Olympic updates from Samuel L. Jackson on Twitter.

I could go to the pharmacy to get the meds that are keeping me alive. Or I could hang out here and watch the Epee match at 9;30.

I'm making the right choice by watching the Epee, right? (Closely followed by Zagunis's match)

Next time, they need to do that with the competition bows from the Olympics.

You know things are going to be bad when you catch your pant leg under your hand on the pommel horse.

The whole notion of Beach Volleyball in gloomy London is absurd. Having the competitors in long johns detracts from the entertainment value in so many ways. Now, Rio, that'll be a beach volleyball sort of place. But I'm done with it for London.

I'm kind of done with swimming too. Well, maybe I'll watch Missy some more. And the run off between Phelps and Lochte is like a battle between the huffer swimmers, so I'll have to watch that too. As if I had a choice. I guess I'm not done.

Way to go, Kayla Harrison! I sure wish I could have seen some Judo. Just a little would have been fine.

I dream of Olympic coverage where they just show the Gold Medal rounds for all the events.

I need to watch the super heavy weight women's weight lifting tomorrow.

I keep thinking I'm done, and then I find myself watching the finals of the double trap skeet shooting (GO GBR) and then I switch over to the men's beach volleyball and before you know it I'm cheering on the Americans in the 4 man rowing competition.

My name is Greg. I have a problem with Olympics.

And I watched the Women's foil team.

would have like to have seen the Judo. would have like to see the women's 8 rowing. Would have like to have seen the bike time trials.

It really is remarkable how "miniscule" NBC makes the Olympics seem.
I mean, if it weren't for all this Doom blather, I wouldn't know there was anything more than swimming and gymnastics and volleyball.
Or am I tuning out NBC coverage too early in the evenings? I can only make it through a few commercials. Then I'm channel-surfing, usually to end up on some telenovela like "Exitos."
