There's a lot you need to know about Chinese film to even begin to make sense of this mess. #1. Jaycee Chan is Jackie's kid. #2. The twins are a popular HK girl duo Twins (Gillian Chung & Charlene Choi) and no, they are not twins at all. #3. This film has nothing to do with Twins Effect 1 which was a vampire flick, starring the twins. #4. Jackie only appears in a fight scene cameo, but it's against Donnie Yen, so that's amusing. There are more points, but I'll stop here.
This film is based in a fantasy world where men are sex slaves and women wear pink armor. There's an evil queen who can cast spells that gives men boobs. Donnie's character is called 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' and they're looking for the 'star of rex' who is the true king, the only person who can wield - can you guess? Excalibur. I'd classify it as another pop star kung fu rom com fantasy flick. Jaycee is pretty good actually. The twins are cute like any cantopop starlets. The Jackie vs. Donnie fight is high fantasy, lots of flying about and special effects. The effects are super cheesey. There's a fat woman as comedy relief. What else? Lots of sword fights - very cheesey fights at that. There's a great eunuch penetration moment that's sort of romantic.
I watched about half of this several weeks ago and just finished it last night but the break in continuity didn't matter at all. Almost DOOM worthy but not quite. Too cutesy.
