Brave

It's a classic princess tale, a wish backfire, very Disneyesque, and yet with absolutely amazing animation. Merida's hair, the landscapes, just stunning stuff. It's funny, colorful and moving, just like you'd expect. It's fairly predictable actually, but the 3D animation is so dazzling that it kept my attention. And Merida is a great character, another might warrior princess, arguably the strongest so far.

T felt it was the best Pixar yet, just behind Wall-E for her. I'm on the fence as I loved both Wall-E and Up. Brave is definitely up there as one of the best ones for me....mostly because there's sword fights (ok, not much of one, but there are a lot of medieval weapons, so it's all good).

Enjoyed the La Luna short too. And there was a live demonstration of Highland dancing and bagpipe by the San Jose troupe.

This would make a great double feature with Secret of the Kells.

P.S. This scores a 4 on the HP scale: Ravena Ravenclaw, Hagrid, Molly Weasley and Prof. Trelawny.

'Official' KFM review coming Friday.

There is something about Pixar films that always give me a huge laugh. At least once or twice.

The best thing about this for me was the twist. It's not brought up in the trailers or the reviews. And it was really funny. The movie went in a very unexpected way for me. I kept thinking but this is an odd way to go.

We did not see the 3-d version. Opting to be be cheap and to avoid tQ's headaches so I did not experience the 3-D rapture DM did. But it did look very pretty. At one point, I swore they were using a photograph.

Go see it.

We saw it in the super Sony HD 3D. I almost fell into some of those landscapes.

The DVD was conveniently released on T's Bday, so it made for a great Bday present and Bday showing. It held up amazingly well on our TV in 2D. I imagine we will watch it over and over, and it will still hold up.

BTW, I am now the father of a teenage girl. Oh...the karma...
