The January Dancer by Michael Flynn

Space Opera. The Irish Rebellion summed up in a few pages. Harp-fu. Pirates. SPACE OPERA! As much writing about story-telling as the story itself.

Satisfying read. Dense, layered, and it all wraps up in one book.

"He was, she learned, a literate man, widely read and well spoken, and as attentive as only an assassin can be."
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Space-battles, guerilla war, knife-fights, space-fu....no sword fights, though.
