Strauss is a journalist who has been covering the entertainment world for the past thirty years for the New York Times and Rolling Stone. His main realm is music but he does get a few actors bios as well. He even helped Motley Crue write their autobiography called 'Dirt'
The book is basically his twitter Feed of thirty years of articles. It covers everyone from Bo Diddley to Neil Young to U2 to Lady Gaga. But the articles aren't the full articles. Strauss calls his writings to get at the essences of each artist and their creative path. Some of the artists get many pages. Some get a few paragraphs. I wish he had written more on U2, for instances, but what he did write was interesting.
The book is a bit long and repetitive, artists saying the same things, but I did really like it. It gave a small peek into a lot of artists I've known over the years.
