What if monsters were real and lived amongst us? I know who hasn't used this device at this point.
This time out it's told from the men's adventure novel standpoint with plenty of hardware. Basically there are monsters and there are organizations that hunt down and kill them, while the populace at large is kept innocent of this information. Owen Pitt gets involved when his boss turns into a werewolf and tries to kill him. So, underground boxer and gun expert turned accountant, Pitt has to defend himself and kills the werewolf. This brings him to the attention of the US Government which has it's own secret monster hunting corp and wants to kill Owen because he might not be a werewolf. It also brings him tot he notice of Monster Hunters International. They like Owen's moxie and want him to join their team. The story goes from there. Eventually everyone has to face off against interdimensional baddies that want to end time as we know it.
If you like detail descriptions of guns and gun battles, this could be your kind of book. There is lots of action. There is the requisite romance with the perfect gun toting kick ass woman. And there is ancient evil to fight. I liked it very much in the beginning but it seemed to get very repetitive towards the end. Everybody is out of bullets and only a miracle can save the team. And the miracle always happens. There is a giant deus ex machina that kind of turned me from liking the book.
I think if you need that light airport reading, this could be the book for you.
