The Perks of Being a Wallflower
#1
...by Stephen Chbosky.

This is a "young adult" coming of age novel. I read it a few weeks ago, so it's not so fresh in my mind any more. I think this was his first novel (I think he's a director). It's about a kid who's just starting High School and is really alienated. He's got some issues, but finds a clique to fit into. It touches on drugs, sex, and lots of "important" books for teens (eg: Catcher in the Rye). That part gets a little old. Also, it occurs mid-90's and the period references seem a little too heavy. I never felt that the author "got" the voice of a 15 year old kid. Even so, I found it compelling and read it pretty quickly (which is unusual for me...).

Heavy plot twist at the end. A decent read...
