The Water Horse - Drunk Monk - 12-31-2007

E.T. meets A Boy and His Loch Ness Monster in WWII. It's completely predictable. The young Nessy effects are ok, but the obligatory magic carpet ride scene doesn't hold up - too much water, CGI Nessy and live action kid. Totally rips of the classic E.T.-hides-in-the-closet-of-stuffies scene. Nice sets tho...

T thought it was ok, a little scary, and too many guns for mommy (but she wasn't there). She liked the cute baby Nessy but lost interest when it grew up. My mom really wanted to see it with us. There was discussion of what happened to the bulldog, which was left very ambiguous in the film, until we all remembered that it was revealed in the trailer. That resolution scene was funny, one of the best bits in the trailer, shame to cut it.

Sinnead had the credits song. That was cool. I was thankful it wasn't Bono.
