A Man on the Inside - King Bob - 12-10-2024 Ted Danson is a widower and his daughter wants him to find something to occupy his time. He takes a job for a PI going undercover in assisted living to solve a crime. I thought it was going to be a comedy, but it's more low-key amusing than laugh-making most of the time. Surprisingly touching at times. Nice that some older people got some work. And Janet from the Good Place had a cameo. I enjoyed it, but probably not DOOM recommended. This might touch raw nerves for some of you. RE: A Man on the Inside - Greg - 12-10-2024 I saw the first episode. Have to get back to it. I was amused. RE: A Man on the Inside - Drunk Monk - 12-10-2024 I loved The Good Place and that’s tempting. Plus it has Rosa from B99 and I love her too. RE: A Man on the Inside - King Bob - 12-10-2024 She was good. RE: A Man on the Inside - Drunk Monk - 12-10-2024 Now I'm more tempted. She was good in Twisted Metal http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomForum/showthread.php?tid=8038 RE: A Man on the Inside - King Bob - 12-10-2024 Plus the grandma from Nora from Queens. And the waitress from Always Sunny. And there is even a Dead tune. RE: A Man on the Inside - Drunk Monk - 12-10-2024 (12-10-2024, 01:05 PM)King Bob Wrote: Plus the grandma from Nora from Queens. Eugene Cordero tho - a cool Eugene from ST: LD. Still in. Maybe I'll start it tonight. RE: A Man on the Inside - thatguy - 12-10-2024 sounds like a remake of this 2020 Chilean film https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mole_Agent --tg RE: A Man on the Inside - Drunk Monk - 12-11-2024 Ok, I liked that first ep but I gotta tell ya, I had another merc episode. For some reason, my netfux started me on ep 8. I got about ten mins in, enough for a major spoiler, and then I realized there was just too much going on for that to be the opening. I started it again on the proper first episode. It was very amusing. Danson and Beatriz are good and I didn't recognize Struthers in the trailer. Cordero is the son-in-law. I shall watch more. RE: A Man on the Inside - Drunk Monk - 12-12-2024 Halfway through now. It’s ok. I really like Stephanie’s role because it’s such a departure. I also didn’t realize that Danson & Struthers are almost the same age - Cheers & All in the Family seem like different eras for me. It’s take on senior living is way too idealized. I toured several facilities that were akin to what they’re trying to depict and the seniors are all way too active. But it’s light and short eps so I’ll probably finish it, even though I already got the thief reveal spoiled. Thanks merc. RE: A Man on the Inside - Drunk Monk - 12-15-2024 Seen E6 was standout because it focused on Didi and Stephanie got to show off her acting chops. As I said, I saw the ending first, not all of it, but I knew who the perp would be and that spoiled it. But enjoyable overall in a light cute way. Despite it alluding to senior issues, it romanticized senior care too much for me to ever think of it as anything but fiction. The care center is the St Francis irl, and that’s way too swanky. It was a pleasant love letter to SF. The door is open for season 2 and I’d probably watch that. RE: A Man on the Inside - King Bob - 12-15-2024 Agreed that it was romanticized, but if it weren't, I think few would watch. If you want a more clear-eyed take on senior issues, read Roz Chast's "Can't We Talk about Something More Pleasant?" It covers the decline and death of her parents. Some bits are quite funny and some hard to take. RE: A Man on the Inside - Drunk Monk - 12-15-2024 I don't need to read that. I’ve been living through it with my parents for a decade and a half plus.
