I got the tickets ages ago, when they first went on sale and the first show had sold out. My daughter, her friend, Leslie, and my friend Robert all went together. The weather app said no rain, but we drove thru some pretty heavy mist to get to the venue. Terra has a super secret parking spot that worked out great. We walked over to the entrance, ate a cold hot dog from the vendors out front, and waited for Robert to arrive. The opener “The Beths” had started when he got there. We got thru the security check easily and then hiked all the way to the top for a central view from the green. These were GA tix…$92 apiece! The Beths were OK - they had a giant fish on stage, like a trout bursting out of the floor. We missed whatever explanation there was, if any…
Still misting, fogging up glasses, but not rain. The band finished and they reset the stage (remove the fish) for the next act. Death Cab comes out. Plays a few hits (that I’m not familiar with) and then they play the Transatlantic album in full. Lots of audience singing along moments, waving cell phones. I recognize a couple songs…
The clouds break and it’s a wonderful night. Postal Service comes on (someone at work said “aren’t they the same band?” Well, everyone in Deathcab for Cutie wore black, and everyone in Postal Service wore white, so no, they aren’t the same band). I don’t know the names of the songs, but they played some great ones out the gate, then they played the full “Give Up” album. Fun show. For an encore, they replayed “Such Great Heights” but this time did it with just Ben and Jenny and an acoustic guitar a la Iron and Wine’s version. They ended with the combined Postal Deathcab band doing a Depeche Mode cover (which I could have done without)…
Fun night out.

Aw dang, I almost worked this show for RM. DC4C was tempting and I haven't done anything for the Greek lately.
I didn't have the bandwidth anyway.
BTW, Stacy is seeing Terra tomorrow. Stacy is looking for clients for free Ashiatsu sessions - she had to get 20 reviews to complete her certification. Ashiatsu is where the therapist walks on you while hanging from ceiling bars. She installed some bars in my mom's home so if any of you are in Sunnyvale and want some deep work, let me know and I'll put you in contact with Stacy.
