Ringworld by Larry Niven - King Bob - 08-04-2023

Decided to reread this since it must be 40 years since I last did. It's still pretty good. The female characters are a bit flat though, and all of them have sex with the main character. It's mostly just a long adventure but the world building and pacing are good. I don't think it's his best; I'd give that to Protector. But I always thought he was a better short story writer than a novelist, much like Arthur C. Clarke.

I have to hand it to Niven for the whole "Known Space" concept to link all his writing together. I wonder if he got the idea from Marvel Comics. And was he the first SF writer to overtly do that? Brian Aldiss may have said something in Trillion Year Spree. I might have to look at that again.

You've probably all read it, so no need to recommend.
