Schoolhouse Rock 50th Anniversary Special - Greg - 02-05-2023 And singalong. I guess we were supposed to sing along. The first thing about the show is they should just have shown the original videos. That is what I was having nostalgia for. Instead we got recreations with modern pop starts with clips from the old pieces. Most of them were poor with the exception of Ne-Yo who did a really great version of Verb. The worst was the one with Kal-Pen because they didn't even use his voice for the song and he just lip-synced. And then there was Ryan Seacrest explaining to us the songs. If I could have fast-forwarded through his bits I would have but you don't get to play that game if you watch it on demand. Why is he so hateable? I sort of kind of barely enjoyed it. The Queen kept looking at me to turn it off. RE: Schoolhouse Rock 50th Anniversary Special - Drunk Monk - 02-05-2023 I bailed two songs in. It was trashing my nostalgia. Opening with interplanetary Janet was a mistake. Principal Seacrest was intolerable. It struck me how lucky our generation was to have had Schoolhouse Rock. The window of Saturday morning cartoons was small in the scope of tv. Having SR squeezed in between toy and cereal ads ingrained so many things - multiplication tables, the preamble… I aged out of the last three seasons. None of those stuck in my mind, not like Multiplication, Grammar or America Rock. Hold the phone. Wasn’t this on Disney+? Maybe you should’ve posted this on the mercnret thread like a confuzzled old yeti that huffed too much blade wire glue would’ve done… RE: Schoolhouse Rock 50th Anniversary Special - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-05-2023 Totally mercinret RE: Schoolhouse Rock 50th Anniversary Special - King Bob - 02-06-2023 In a similar vein, Animaniacs did some educational songs. The state capitols one was very good. RE: Schoolhouse Rock 50th Anniversary Special - Drunk Monk - 02-06-2023 Never saw that. Isn't the capitol of California Capitola? RE: Schoolhouse Rock 50th Anniversary Special - King Bob - 02-06-2023 No doubt should have been Capitola. RE: Schoolhouse Rock 50th Anniversary Special - thatguy - 02-06-2023 They Might Be Giants have quite a few "educational" albums and songs and John Linnell did a solo album of "State Songs" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uT0KLwSo1HY&list=OLAK5uy_kL3rvTYaKEoYQ7meISrE98hb8ipAX_V0Y --tg (02-06-2023, 05:44 PM)thatguy Wrote: They Might Be Giants have quite a few "educational" albums and songs and John Linnell did a solo album of "State Songs" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uT0KLwSo1HY&list=OLAK5uy_kL3rvTYaKEoYQ7meISrE98hb8ipAX_V0Y Oh, and this one: |
