June 29th – July 9th, 2007 Beijing – Emei Mountain, Sichuan

Join Kung Fu Tai Chi in celebrating fifteen years of publication with an unprecedented China tour and party! wait a second - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 02-06-2007

We are going all that way and we are not going to the Shaolin Temple? I cry rip off.

Tempting though. But there will be four days when i don't get to embarass DM in front of his MA fans. And what movie are we making along the way, besides the documentary?

We're probably going to provide an add-on to Shaolin... - Drunk Monk - 02-06-2007

...or to Wudang. Basically, we'd hand you off to another tour group. For Shaolin, it'd be the guide I always work with. He's very good. For Wudang, it'll probably be a long-time advertiser who leads trips out there. We could set you up with that, but you'd have to make it home by yourself.

I'd add that this is a pretty packed tour. It looks rather exhausting really, especially considering that you'll be travelling with a bunch of fit martial arts yahoos who will be running all over like dogs in heat, busting absurd fighting poses all the time, and yelling 'you're lagging' whe you can't keep up. Let me translate for you.

Saturday, June 30th: Arrive Beijing International
GET MASSIVELY CLUSTERFUCKED BY INSANE CROWD

Sunday, July 1st: Great Wall & Ming Tombs
HIKE UP A MOUNTAIN ON A STONE WALL IN THE BLISTERING HEAT. HIKE DOWN INTO A STONE CHAMBER (but it's nice and cool).

Monday, July 2nd: Forbidden City & Temple of Heaven
WALK FOR MILES IN THE BLISTERING HEAT TO SEE THRONE ROOM AFTER THRONE ROOM AFTER THRONE ROOM. HIKE UP A MOUNTAIN IN THE BLISTERING HEAT TO SEE A TEMPLE (but the walkway is shaded).

Tuesday, July 3rd: Summer Palace. Depart Beijing, Arrive Chengdu
GET MASSIVELY CLUSTERFUCKED BY INSANE CROWD

Wednesday, July 4th: Panda Sanctuary, Leshan Buddha, Emei Hot Springs.
HIKE IN A FOREST TO SEE BEARS. HIKE UP A MOUNTAIN TO SEE BIG STATUE. hmmm, hot springs. now that sounds nice...

Thursday, July 5th: Ascend Emei Mountain to Golden Summit.
HIKE UP ANOTHER MOUNTAIN TO SEE TEMPLE AND STATUE

Friday, July 6th: Day (optional): visit Emei Monkey Reserve & Wannian Temple – or – Train in Emei Kung Fu – or – Attend Emei Martial Arts Festival
Academic Symposium. Evening: Grand Opening Ceremony
OF COURSE, GREG WILL CHOOSE TRAINING

Saturday, July 7th: Day: Emei Martial Arts Festival Forms Competition.
Evening: The 15h Anniversary of Kung Fu Tai Chi Banquet & Masters Demonstration.
SIT ON UNCOMFORTABLE BLEECHERS AND WATCH PEOPLE JUMP ABOUT IN PAJAMAS. THEN EAT AND WATCH MORE PEOPLE JUMP ABOUT IN PAJAMAS (but they'll be really good at it)

Sunday, July 8th: Day: Emei Martial Arts Festival Forms Competition. International Wushu Sanshou Dao Association Sparring Competition and 20th Anniversary Celebration. Farewell Party.
SIT ON UNCOMFORTABLE BLEECHERS AND WATCH PEOPLE JUMP ABOUT IN PAJAMAS AND BEAT THE SNOT OUT OF EACH OTHER. THEN EAT MORE AND DRINK GODAWFUL MILLET WINES.

Monday, July 9th: Depart Chengdu and Beijing. Arrive SFO.
THANK GOD YOUR AN AMERICAN.

Note: I've left out the part where you're spurting your brains out your butt squatting over the nastiest fecal pit you've ever seen because I don't want to scare you. Evil

When did you become the Wuss King? - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 02-07-2007

If you don't want me to go, say so. Plus, all that crapping would be good for my weight. You mentioned 4 star hotels. How rough could it be going through China in 4 star hotels? I'm going to need that press pass so I can get out of the bleachers and onto the floor to take the cool shots to put on the website KFMCHINA2007.com

I bet they won't yell at him for lagging because he'll have at least three or four cameras with him and they'll be too busy posing for pictures with Darth Tater.

Pandas! - lady_cranefly - 02-07-2007

Did I mention we are flying China Air? - Drunk Monk - 02-08-2007

The seats on China Air are tight for me. Just warning ya. It will be great if you can really make it, but it may be a tough trip, so I just want you to be mentally prepared for the worst. China can be really wacky.

In all seriousness, I'm very excited about Leshan and the panda reserve. Plus it should be a showing of martial arts like no other. It's far from a free trip for me. I got to work my ass off for this one. It would be easier to pay for the trip by moonlighting flipping burgers. But Emei is the last destination I really want to see in China. It'll be my ninth trip to China, and after it, I'll be very ready to go somewhere else.

Those "special reserve" pandas are s'posed to be tastier than regular pandas...

TAPS - Drunk Monk - 02-16-2007

I have no idea what that means - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 02-16-2007

I trained yesterday. I took the dogs up the mini-MtEmei. Death was close at hand.

Plus I already own the domain for this trip: kfmchina2007

I have lost my mind - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 02-18-2007

Website: the Beginning. Yes I worked all day on it. Yes, my computer killed all the support files. But I was left with this one scrap. Schadenfreude, my ass

KFM in China

Hmm - Haggis Killer - 02-18-2007

I didn't see Darth Tater anywhere.

How can you go to China and not bring Darth Tater? Stand by for further updates.
