Tenet (as Cranefly pointed out in the Trailers section) is a palindrome. Stuff happens in both time directions. We experience time as an arrow, always progressing into the future, but physicists will tell you there there is nothing preventing things working in either direction. We’ve been watching a lot of PBS Space Time channel on YouTube which is a good primer on stuff like this, but not good enough, I guess. There’s quite a lot to keep track of and like other Nolan movies (Memento, inception) it tries hard to f*ck with your perception.
The lead was good, refreshing to see a unknown (to me) carry a blockbuster movie. Supporting cast was Kenneth Branagh playing a Russian oligarch, Elizabeth Dubici as his wife, the lead from that (anti-)Beatles movie “yesterday”, and the French detective gal from The Tunnel makes a brief appearance.
I felt that the story didn’t give the main character much background. It wasn’t clear why he was so bond like in his ability to pop into a situation and own it. Was it charisma? Training?
Dubici is crazy tall and the wardrobe they put her in made her seem even taller.
Lots of stuff happens and I won’t try to explain or spoil. I will say that it was confusing. Chase scenes were pretty cool.
