Ted Lasso (Apple TV+) - Greg - 09-07-2020

Ted Lasso is a football coach who gets hired to go to England to take over Managing an English Football club. Yes, he's coaching a different sport. It's from the people who brought you Scrubs, which I always enjoyed.

There is a lot of Major League going on in this show. The current owner, who got the club in the divorce, wants to tank the team because it's the only thing her ex-husband ever loved.

Because of the streaming issues, which were kind of based on the fire smoke, it took us two hours to watch about an hours worth of show. But there were funny bits in it. There's a lot of pathos as well. One of which is Lasso is relentlessly upbeat and it jars people to see someone that isn't cynical.

I am ready to watch more at regular speed.

RE: Ted Lasso (Apple TV+) - Greg - 09-08-2020

I thought I was going to binge this to the end on Labor Day, but no. Apple TV+ only releases weekly so I was cock-blocked at Ep7

But they are all good. It's all cliches, all the time. But they are done well. It's funny. It's got pathos. Most of the plot I can see coming a mile away. But I love a good underdog sports TV show. I hope the season goes for at least ten episodes but I'm thinking it will round up at 8.

On a side note, I mentioned on Twitter that I was binging the show, no hashtags, and the star of the show Jason Sudeikis like my tweet. So, I've got that going for me.

I did my Ted Lasso fix, this morning. So much sadness in the humor. I really like these characters and this show. And when you think you have Ted figured out things change.

I think there are only going to be ten episodes and today was the 7th.

RE: Ted Lasso (Apple TV+) - Greg - 09-27-2020

I made it to episode 9. This episode wasn't as strong as the others. Not a lot of funny. Not a lot of sad. Everything was put in place for the final episode.

Anthony Head as the former owner and ex-husband of the current owner is unctuous as always. The cast is really good. I'm just curious to how they wrap it all up.

I am ready for Ted Lasso Season 2. I don't think my free year will last long enough for me to watch it. I won't renew. As you can see here, not a lot of shows popping up on Apple+ for me to watch or drew my attention.

Ted is back. Nice start to the season.

So much tension. So much funny. I want them to dump all the episodes now. This waiting a week for the next installment is bullshit.

In this episode Roy Kent becomes a Football pundit to great effect. Ted continues to have problems with the therapist. And Jamie Tartt comes back and the rest of the team is unhappy. Lots of business goes on each episode.

Ted Lasso is what is going to make me shell out money for Apple+ another month. Funny. Sweet. Touching. Good stories. It keeps going unexpected places.

For instance in this episode the team stages a boycott.

S2 Ep5 How can we already be at Episode 5. The show continues to delight. This episode focused on getting Roy Kent back to the team. But it also paid homage to so many different Romantic Comedies from Jerry McGuire to Princess Bride. They were all so funny. And after the show, tQ and I watched Notting Hill for the millionth time.

S2 Ep6 I can't remember which one this was but we saw Ep 7 and Ep8 last night.

Ep7 was a bunch of little bits all about the big semi-final match between Richmond and Man City. Time to tie up some story lines. It was funny and emotional.

Ep8 was all about Coach Beard, Ted Lasso's assistant. It was the episode where you guessed the show runners wanted to give the rest of the actors the week off and they just focused on character who doesn't have any story lines. They followed Beard around as he dealt with the results of the Man City game. He has adventures. He has some really good hallucinations about two broadcasters. Frankly, I would have liked to learn more about what is happening with Ted and the gang.

EP8 Beard's Odyssey...a strange and out-of-character episode compared to the rest of the series.

Darn those Lasso writers! Got me multiple times…

I was surprised that a clip from Friday’s unaired episode was played during Kimmel’s interview with Hannah Waddingham…I thought the fruit company was tight fisted about leaks.

So much going on in this episode. So many storylines in play. And they all played out. I'm not crying you're crying. And laughing.

Stacy watched the first Ep and was amused but not enough to watch more.
