Holiday (1938) - Drunk Monk - 07-24-2020 Cary Grant & Kathryn Hepburn. Need I say more? But I will because I'm an out-of-work writer and this relieves my deadly-writing-back-up. Grant is to marry a rich gal he met just ten days prior. He has good prospects although he comes from common roots. Hepburn is his fiancee's black sheep sister. But Grant doesn't want money. He wants to take a holiday. And Hepburn does too. Romance ensues. It's got wickedly fast dialog, based on a play, and lots of implausible lines for people that just met. It's absurd too. The rich family lives in a palatial mansion with an elevator, dual grand staircases from the foyer, and marble pillars. Srsly? WTH denies that to go 'find themselves'? No sword fights but there's a lovely pair of figure-8 foils crossed over the mantel so I was hopeful. Not particularly DOOM recommended. RE: Holiday (1938) - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-24-2020 Grant, Hepburn, snappy dialogue? Totally DOOM-worthy RE: Holiday (1938) - Drunk Monk - 07-24-2020 fair enough |
