U.S. vs. John Lennon - Drunk Monk - 10-01-2006 Great film. Great music, obviously, including some of the more obscure songs, the ones we all ignored because it was squeezed in between Yoko tracks. But even Yoko comes of well here. Some nice new interview material with Cronkite, McGovern, Liddy, Seals, Davis. And some fantastic vintage footage, a lot that I had seen before, but enough unseen stuff to make it exciting. A lot of nostalgiac moments. It's extraordinarily relevant for today's war. Luv the message - Give peace a chance - right on, brotha! Of course, I'm a huge Beatles fan, so temper my opinion with that fact. And as you've already realized, I love leftwing political films, anything that goes after the neocons. But I highly recommend this one. It'll probably play as well on DVD, if not better, than in the theaters, but I'm always one to support good films in theaters, if I can. George McGovern Quotes Lennon - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 05-29-2007 That's why he lost the campaign. It was okay. Maybe I need to be a bigger John Lennon fan. The only really new thing that I found interesting was the tie in between Lennon's immigration hearings and the watergate break in. Who would have thunk? Or maybe we shouldn't? The impression I got was that Lennon was more of a pawn of the counter culture leader than the man at the forefront. Although, he did have the better songs. |
