Hotel Artemis (2018) - Greg - 11-27-2018 The Hotel Artemis is a hospital for crooks in a riot filled future Los Angeles run by Jody Foster. Foster plays the Nurse. She is ably assisted by Dave Bautista who plays the health care professional/bouncer Everest. The Nurse is in rough shape constantly nursing a bottle of whiskey. Everest constantly looms. The Hotel Artemis is hopping with patients. There's the gun dealer who's getting his face fixed. The knife legged woman from Kingsman has a bullet wound. And Johnny Cochran has dragged his brother in after a botched robbery. Meanwhile Spock has shown up demanding that they save a bed for his injured father who is on his way. It's all very tense and stylish in a run down over saturated sort of way. There are plenty of fights and scenes where the actors can chew the scenery with each other. Bautista gets to be Bautista. At the end of the day, it felt like a dinner of candy. At the time it felt really good, but in the aftermath you have to ask was it really worthwhile. I've never had a sweet tooth. Although now being pre-diabetic, it's forbidden and I like forbidden things. Been thinking about checking this out. Your review didn't budge me either more towards it or against it. But it's not top of the queue by any means. RE: Hotel Artemis (2018) - Greg - 11-27-2018 I had a tremendous feeling of meh after watching it. The plot was ever so slight. But it looked good. Unless it's the MCU. That's like your only non-meh genre. RE: Hotel Artemis (2018) - Greg - 11-27-2018 I also like Buster Keaton films. All these years and you've been living this secret life in the closet from DOOM. It's okay. We accept you no matter what your inclination. I kinda like Buster too. RE: Hotel Artemis (2018) - Greg - 11-27-2018 I was afraid I would give away too many spoilers if I reviewed them. I have The General on my DVR. I have his entire collection on DVD. |
