Ghost 11/15/18 @ S.J. City National Civic - El Dingo - 11-21-2018 Ghost are slipping under the radar of most MSM music entities. They would have ruled MTV. Hard rock (think Ratt) + religious costumes/themes and a continually changing lead singer. The drive down was hell. When you hit the 880/101 intersection you are screwed. The drive through town was also terrible due to construction and police activity. I finally parked in a $20 lot near the venue. I got out of the car and looked for the pay stations. The door closed and locked. Lights on, keys in the ignition. This is why I love AAA people! After a stressful hour a AAA rep arrived and got the door open. This show featured singer "Cardinal Copia" switching between his religious and Mafia garb (more costume changes I've seen since Alice Cooper and Erasure}. The crowd was very 30+. I found myself in the balcony with a biker gang because I started chatting with an elder member (verifying there was no opening band) then booking when the gang vs. me got too large. The set was church-like, with platforms for the drums and keyboards. Simulated stained-glass windows were the backdrop. Anyway, no opening band, great show, but going to San Jose is officially torture. RE: Ghost 11/15/18 @ S.J. I never hit it between 4PM-7PM. It's such a exit for SB880 to SB101. SJCNC is an amusing venue. An ol' RM friend is house manager. I almost called in a favor from him for the Hatsune Miku show. Last time I was there was for SVCC. There used to be martial arts events there before it was remodelled. Now it's a bit too expensive, although we've looked at moving there when South Hall was tenuous. |
