How to talk to Girls at Parties (2018) - Greg - 08-19-2018 The blurb for this movie made it sound very exciting. It's by Neil Gaiman. It's about aliens. It is set in Crydon, England during the earliest days of the Punk era. On to the queue it went. Yeah, not so much. Think of it as the Punk version of Starman, only not as entertaining. It tried very hard to be trippy and to kind of show the punk scene at the same time. I must say the alien costumes were all pretty cool. I did like some of the punk musical interludes. Nicole Kidman plays Boudicea. It might have just been her chance to go really punk after her time in Paddington. Elle Fanning plays the Jeff Bridges role. I spent a lot of the film being bored. Towards the end, I felt like the story was just winging it. All that being said, I think ED should see this. RE: How to talk to Girls at Parties (2018) - King Bob - 08-21-2018 It was a good short story - I think it's in Trigger Warnings. Not enough to make a film from though, more of a short vignette with a surprise ending (although I guess the surprise ending is sort of industry standard for SF and horror stories). When I heard about the movie I was excited, until I saw it was the Hedgwig and the Angry Inch guy. That was terrible. RE: How to talk to Girls at Parties (2018) - El Dingo - 08-21-2018 I did just rent this. We'll see. |
